May 2017 – Glendale Union High School District employees including teachers, administrators, counselors and bus drivers were celebrated May 3 at the annual Retirement & 25-Year Employee Recognition Reception.

In total, these employees served GUHSD for 1,011 years! We thank them for their service and appreciate their contributions to our students, families, public education and the community at large.

This year’s 25-year employees included: Toni Cook from Apollo; Sean Mireau from Glendale; Steven Andersen, Ana Cortes-Holbert; Steffanie Hernandez, Cynthia Johansen and Jose Morales from Greenway; Brian Fitzgerald, Susan Knapp and Michelle Monaghan from Independence; John Boie and Debora Gray from Moon Valley; Dallas Hickman from Sunnyslope; Anna Hollifield, Chris Lansing, Sheri Siwek and Donna West from Thunderbird; Frank Garcia and Robert Johnson from Washington; and Cory Shinkle from the District Office.

To acknowledge their years of service, each employee received a commemorative lapel pin and their name with dates of service will be inscribed on a plaque at the District Office.

The retirees included: Antonio Hernandez from Apollo; Felisa Bottjen and Karen Perry from Cortez; Joseph Bohner, Robin Lewis, Richard Randolph and Maria Misirlakis from Glendale; Margaret Kerwin-Rich, Sharon Krawl and Paul Smith from Greenway; Sylvia Rodriguez, Jacqueline Smith and Dorothy Stein from Independence; Veronica Carlson, Janice Grubbs and Sandi Irwin from Moon Valley; Dallas Hickman, Bruce Reynolds, Peter Saltsman and Laura Sewell from Sunnyslope; Susan Dahlk and Karen Horine from Thunderbird; Leonard Froese, Linda Holsapple, Randy Irwin, Laurette Rabbat and Robert Johnson from Washington; and Alfonso Aguirre, Barbara Jensen, Karen Jurkowski, Arthur Mamalis, Thomas VanDyke, Karen Wheeler and Sherry Ulloa from the District Office.

As a token of appreciation for their service, these individuals received a lifetime pass to any sporting event or GUHSD activity, along with an ornamental plaque.
