Department Goal
By offering students numerous and varied opportunities, in
addition to traditional academics, Vocational Education and
Special Programs help ensure that ALL students can be successful
in high school and leave "empowered for the choices and
challenges of the 21st century."
Department Description
Career and Technical Education & Special Programs
within the Glendale Union High School District offers a wide
variety of opportunities to insure a student's success in
high school and "to empower them for the choices and
challenges of the 21st century." By taking advantage
of these opportunities students can explore career options
and develop useful, lifelong skills. Many of our programs
have been recognized statewide for innovation and outstanding
student achievement. In addition, career links with community
colleges and industry has allowed our district to offer opportunities
for students to start a career for life.
For students who need more specialized education to help
them to successfully graduate from high school we offer night
school, summer school, and School-Within-A-School on each
of our campuses. In addition, the Metrocenter Academy, which
serves the needs of students who have dropped out of school
and now wish to return and earn their high school diploma,
was launched. All of these programs are described in this
site and we invite you to explore what the various programs
have to offer.
