Position on Redistricting

Voters on November 4, 2008 will consider redistricting plans that call for unifying 76 elementary and high-school districts into 23 districts. The proposals include merging 34 high school and elementary school districts in Maricopa County into six K-12 districts.

Proposals/maps created by the school redistricting commission combine Glendale Union High School District with feeder districts Washington Elementary and Glendale Elementary. The commission requested a response from the GUHSD Governing Board before September 30, 2007.

The response, which was submitted to the commission in September, was voted on during an open meeting. All board members unanimously voted (no) against the proposal. You will find the response submitted by the board by clicking on the link to the left.
