Another Successful Year for GUHSD's CAN-petition

Another Successful Year for GUHSD's CAN-petition
March 2011- On February 28, 2011 the Glendale Union High School District began a two week long canned food drive competition, or "CAN-petition".  The nine schools in the district (Thunderbird, Apollo, Sunnyslope, Cortez, Independence, Greenway, Washington, Glendale, and Moon Valley) competed against each other to try and raise the most money, canned food, can openers, and water bottles.  These donations were given to on-campus or local food banks.  As a district we collected 51,779 cans.  Glendale High School won the competition for the third year in a row with 12,019 cans, Sunnyslope came in second place, and Thunderbird finished third.  The GUHSD “CAN-petition” was wrapped up with a celebration at Washington High School on March 25, 2011.  We would like to thank all those who donated to the GUHSD "CAN-petition" for helping our schools achieve such great success.
