How GUHSD Is Helping Our Principals with Professional Development

Curriculum and Instruction Coordinators Hold Data Day for Administrators
July 2012- Principals and assistant principals within GUHSD are already gearing up for another exciting school year. They gathered for an annual professional development day just a few weeks prior to the first day of school.

GUHSD Curriculum and Instruction coordinators provided administrators detailed information regarding the new Common Core Standards in conjunction with the expectations for college and career readiness. This valuable experience provided the administrative teams with information and strategies to effectively implement the standards.

The Common Core Standards define the knowledge and skills students should have within their K-12 education careers so that they will graduate high school able to succeed in entry-level, credit-bearing academic college courses and in workforce training programs. For more information about The Common Core State Standards, visit

In addition to the standards review, the coordinators worked alongside the principals and assistant principals from each school to review performance data from the previous year.

Curriculum coordinators support local administrators and provide consistent professional development throughout the year to GUHSD teachers.
