GUHSD Ramps Up With It's Traditional Back To School Event
Teachers from Glendale Union High School District rallied together in anticipation of the upcoming school year.  This annual event provides teachers with an opportunity to build camaraderie and promote school spirit while sharing the universal connection of preparing classroom activities for the new year.  Contributing to the lively and fun atmosphere of the festivities, teachers follow the long standing tradition of attending the assembly clad in Spirit-Wear from each campus.  A raucous delivery of School Fight Songs sets a tone of excitement and readiness for the beginning of the year.

New Construction Is Finished
After the community approved an $80 million bond in November, the district immediately went to work to rebuild classrooms at both Greenway and Thunderbird campuses. After only 101 days, Phase I of the construction project is complete. McCarthy Building Companies began work on both campuses in March and demolished old buildings prior to starting construction on the new, two-story classroom buildings, using concrete tilt-wall construction. The building at Greenway represents 42,000 square feet of general classroom space and the one at Thunderbird totals 60,000 square feet. A time-lapse view of the raising of the walls and progress at the Greenway campus through May can be viewed here.
