September 2012- Four students from Glendale Union High School District were named semi-finalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Each year, more than 1.5 million students enter the National Merit Program. This year, about 16,000 students from across the country were named semi-finalists, after having the highest scores on the Preliminary SAT/Preliminary National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The students who received the top marks were Alyssa Bond and Miranda Motsinger from Thunderbird High School and Elizabeth Hannah and Timothy Millea from Sunnyslope High School.

These four students now have the opportunity to continue on in the competition and possibly score one of 8,300 National Merit Scholarships. The scholarships are worth $2,500.
