August 2016 – The Glendale Union High School District fêted the start of a new year with its annual Back to School Celebration on Tuesday, August 2. The event was held at Glendale High School.

The celebration was divided into two events; one to honor the 800 teachers at the district, and a second afternoon event to highlight the more than 900 support staff members. Each group received a warm welcome from the Governing Board and Superintendent.

The teachers heard from key note speaker and Glendale Union Education Association President Jonathan Parker. He discussed their importance in the everyday actions teachers bestow upon students. To watch Mr. Parker’s speech, click here.

Brad Meese, a Washington graduate and former manager of the school bookstore, addressed the support staff. He is currently pursuing a teaching degree and will fulfill his student teaching at Washington High School. His comments addressed how the support staff members’ role on campus is vital to the entire organization. To watch his speech, click here.

Governing Board President Don DeBusk and Superintendent Brian Capistran also addressed those in attendance.
