AP Versus IB: What's the Difference?
November 2011- Both Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs are rigorous and immediately convey credibility. Although the two programs share many similar qualities, within GUHSD, there is a difference.

The Advanced Placement program offers students the opportunity to take rigorous courses during their high school years in order to gain college credits and prepare for the challenges of higher education. This college credit allows students to save money on their post-secondary education and gives them the opportunity to earn academic scholarships and awards. Glendale Union High School District pays for AP exams, saving the student $87 on each exam. If the same student were to take IB exams in many neighboring districts, he or she could expect to pay $700. In essence, the student is gaining free college credit, courtesy of Glendale Union.
