GUHSD Art Students Recognized at Shemer Art Center
February 2012- Six GUHSD students took home awards for their artwork at the New Horizons High School Student Art Exhibit award ceremony at the Shemer Art Center on January 21.

The exhibit, which was available for viewing from January 13 to February 8, featured the work of over 70 students from 39 valley high schools. Cash awards were provided by patrons for those students whose work was especially exceptional.

Harley Deguisne from Greenway High School won an award for her watercolor mixed media self-portrait. Sunnyslope's Samantha Swartz and Kim Csontos were each awarded $100 for winning the President's Award and Instructor's Best of Show, respectively. Apollo junior Clara Kesti won the Shemer Family Award of $100 for her drawing, "First Masquerade." Like Sunnyslope, Moon Valley also had two winners, Mekah Abbey and Marissa Clutter. Mekah won a $100 gift certificate to Framin' Works, and Melissa won a $50 cash award and was selected by her peers for the $100 Artist's Choice Award.

Congratulations to these talented artists.
