GUHSD Students Named Among West Valley's Best by ASU
April 2012- Nine GUHSD students were recently recognized at Arizona State University's second annual "West Valley Junior Excellence Awards" ceremony. Thirty-eight students from around the West Valley were honored at this event for excellence in mathematics, humanities, science, and the arts.

Students are nominated for this acknowledgement by their teachers and are then judged by a panel of ASU professors. The top students are honored with a certificate and plaque at the annual ceremony.

This year's excellent mathematics students from GUHSD were Justine Hodge, Cortez High School; Timothy Millea, Sunnyslope High School; and Rachel Naftulin, Thunderbird High School.

GUHSD's science honorees were Kirsten Linnartz, Sunnyslope High School and Vesna Pepic, Greenway High School.

For excellence in the arts, Mekah Abbey, Moon Valley High School; Barbara Ramirez, Independence High School; Katherine Vasquez, Greenway High School; and Elizabeth Wright, Thunderbird High School were selected for awards.

GUHSD is proud to be the district of choice for some of the West Valley's most excellent students. Congratulations to each of these bright young individuals!
