GUHSD Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

GUHSD Students Named National Merit Semifinalists
September 2011- Five GUHSD students were included in the list of National Merit Semifinalists for 2012.

These students, who are among the 16,000 national high scorers on the Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, will have the opportunity to compete for approximately 8,200 National Merit Scholarships.

Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level, and about half of all Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship.  However, simply being named a Semifinalist is something to honor, as these students represent the top one percent of all students in the country academically.

The Semifinalists from GUHSD are Chris Kaplan from Moon Valley, Kelly Kottmer from Sunnyslope, and Andrew Davis, Seve De Respino, and Kent Morrisey from Thunderbird.  Congratulations to these bright young individuals!
