Four GUHSD Students Named National Merit Scholarship Finalists

Four GUHSD Students Are Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competition
February 2013- Four students from Glendale Union High School District were named finalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Each year, more than 1.5 million students enter the National Merit Program. This year, about 15,000 students from across the country were named finalists, after receiving the highest scores on the Preliminary SAT/Preliminary National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The students who received the top marks were Alyssa Bond and Miranda Motsinger from Thunderbird High School and Elizabeth Hannah and Timothy Millea from Sunnyslope High School. The four students were recognized by the GUHSD Board for being National Merit semi-finalists back in September.

These four students now have the opportunity to continue on in the competition and possibly score one of 8,300 Merit Scholarships. The scholarships are worth $2,500.

Congratulations to our National Merit finalists and best of luck!
