Glendale Union High School Students Score Among the Highest in the Nation

October 2013 – Six students from Glendale Union High School District were named semi-finalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program.  Annually, more than 1.5 million students enter the academic competition.  This year, approximately 16,000 students from across the country were named semi-finalists, after achieving the highest scores on the Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The students who received the top marks were Amanda Wahlers from Cortez High School,  Logan Mellaci from Moon Valley High School, Nick Billings from Thunderbird High School and Austin Cotter, Alexandra Meilech, and Samantha Orwoll from Sunnyslope High School.

These students now have the opportunity to progress in the scholastic contest and potentially garner one of the 8,000 Merit Scholarship awards, worth $2500 each.

Congratulations to our National Merit semi-finalists and best of luck!
