Members of GUHSD Honored at The Arizona Council for Exceptional Children’s Annual Conference

AZCEC ThumbnailFebruary 26, 2021- GUHSD Director of Special Education, Alissa Krantz, was chosen for the Early Career Special Education Administrator Award, from The Arizona Council for Exceptional Children (AZCEC) and The Arizona Council for Administrators of Special Education (AZCASE). This award is presented to a Special Education Administrator who is a member of CASE, is in their first five years administering special education programs, and who exemplifies leadership consistent with CASE standards, ethics and values.

Independence Teacher Estevan Carreon was awarded the Samuel Kirk Teacher of the Year Award during The Arizona Council for Exceptional Children’s Annual Conference this year. The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving the educational success of children and youth with disabilities and/or gifts and talents.

Senior Hazel Meraz, was nominated by Ms. Perry from Independence to receive the student “I Can Do It” award from The Arizona Council for Exceptional Children. This award is given to students who have demonstrated an “I Can Do It” attitude.
