SuperMr. Brian Capistran was born and raised in Glendale, Arizona. He attended elementary school in the Glendale Elementary School District and graduated from Glendale High School within the Glendale Union High School District. Mr. Capistran is currently the Superintendent of the Glendale Union High School District where he manages the day-to-day operations and the growth and development of an award-winning district.

Superintendent Capistran has spent his entire career serving the GUHSD community. Over the past 26 years, he has applied his professional preparation and extensive experiences as a teacher and leader to make significant contributions to the success of the Glendale Union High School District.

He began his teaching career at Sunnyslope High School. His career in education continued in his role as a principal at Apollo High School. Superintendent Capistran also served GUHSD as an assistant principal, school safety administrator, assistant superintendent of student services, and associate superintendent of curriculum and instruction before becoming Superintendent of the Glendale Union High School District.

In addition to being a positive force within the Glendale and Phoenix communities advocating for public education, Superintendent Capistran has served on several committees and commissions including the Governor’s Classrooms First Initiative Council, the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education.  Additionally, he was a member of the Glendale Kiwanis Club before joining the Glendale Rotary Club six years ago. In addition, to being a Rotarian, Superintendent Capistran serves on the Board of Directors of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce and the Arizona Business and Education Coalition.

In 2020, Superintendent Capistran joined the Board of Directors for the Arizona Business and Education Coalition (ABEC).
