August 2022 – The Glendale Union High School District kicked off the 2022-2023 school year with its Back to School Celebration on Wednesday, August 3. The annual event took place in Apollo High School’s gymnasium.

The celebration was held in two separate sessions; the first was to honor the 856 teachers of the district and the second to thank the 685 support staff for their ongoing commitment to GUHSD. The Governing Board President Patty Kennedy and Superintendent Brian Capistran warmly welcomed each group with words of appreciation and encouragement for the new school year.

In addition, President of the Glendale Union Education Association Estevan Carreon and Glendale’s Support Staff of the Year, Lena Apodaca-Meza, shared their remarks of inspiration to all of those in attendance.
