Cortez September Roundup

Congratulations to our September Colts with C.L.A.S.S. winners!

We appreciate our students who display great character on a daily basis.

Last week we hosted Palo Verde Middle School boys’ volleyball and girls’ soccer. The student athletes got to experience our new court and turf field. Both teams had victories! We look forward to seeing them at our Future Freshmen Night event on November 16th at 6:30 starting in our auditorium.

Senior, Mert Isik was named a 2024 National Merit Semifinalist. More than 1.3 million students from 21,000 high schools participated by taking the 2022 PSAT leading to the selection of semifinalist, who represent fewer than 1% of U.S seniors nationally. We are so proud of Mert for his academic accomplishment and wish him luck as he applies for a finalist spot.

Hispanic Honor Society, a national organization, welcomed 38 new members. Srta. Korchmaros, the club sponsor and many proud families attended the induction. Cortez has many students from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, so we are excited for this new school year with such a robust community. This club will lead our campus as they study, share, and celebrate Hispanic culture and language. Congratulations to this year's officers: President Nicolle Arambulo, Vice President Rosaxary Garcia, Secretary Sharai Marroquin, Treasurer Angie Chi, Public Relations Ashley Barrios, and Publicists David Perdomo and Yulibeth Marino Hernandez.

Cortez has been recognized once again, in the U.S. News & World Report list of America’s Top High Schools. This recognition reflects the excellence of our academic programs and the dedication of our staff and students.
