A message from the Director of Special Education:
Welcome!
In the Glendale Union High School District, your voice, your advocacy for your child, matters! We want to work in collaboration with you, your child, and the school-based team in developing and delivering a comprehensive educational program that will support the high expectations you, and we, have of your child(ren).
Parents in our district should be and feel involved. You are deemed as critical members of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams. We hope you take advantage of the many resources available to you at the local school site, such as your child's case manager, the special education department chair, and the school psychologist. There are also many community resources to assist you and your child(ren) in reaching their post-secondary goals and being supported beyond high school. If you are not aware of these agencies, ask your child's case manager for assistance in obtaining information to reach out to such resources. Some are listed in the Web Resources link, which may be found on the Special Education home page, to help you begin this transitional journey to life beyond high school. We appreciate your taking the time to access the information provided for you. They are intended to be web-based links to help you navigate the special education highway of school-based services, community-based services, and post-secondary supports that may assist you and your child as he/she works towards reaching post-school goals.
As celebrations take place you wish to share, or struggles take place you need assistance resolving, please feel free to call or email so we form a solid partnership along your child's educational journey. ALL students can learn as a a result of the partnership and proactive communication our teachers have with your child(ren) and you.
