Next S.T.E.P.
The Next S.T.E.P. program is a secondary special education program designed for students with disabilities who are between the ages of 18 and 22, and who are not yet ready for graduation. The Next S.T.E.P. program offers functional and vocational curriculum with instructional focus on the acquisition of skills necessary for independence within the community.

Next S.T.E.P. components include:
  • Assessment
  • Secondary vocational and postsecondary training
  • Classroom instruction
  • Interagency collaboration for eligible students with appropriate adult agencies

Glendale Union High School District is committed to students with disabilities who have met the requirements for a diploma through their IEP goals but still require transition services that they are eligible to receive until the age of 22. "Transition Services" means a coordinated set of activities for a student, designed within an outcome-oriented process that promotes movement from school to post school activities, including postsecondary education, vocational training, integrated employment (including supported employment), comtinuing and adult education, adult services, independent living, or community particpation.
