Defining the Rocket Standard of Excellence: Moon Valley High School’s Achievement Above All Honorees
Glendale Union High School District Governing Board applauds Moon Valley High School’s Achievement Above All recipients, recognizing individuals whose impact reaches across campus and reflects the strength of the Rocket community. These honorees demonstrate a deep commitment to student growth, creating spaces where support, opportunity, and belonging are part of everyday life. Through their efforts in and beyond the classroom, they help cultivate a culture that inspires continued success at Moon Valley High School.
Teacher Recipient: Kim Fisher
Kim Fisher has dedicated 26 years to education at Moon Valley High School, where she continues to make a lasting impact on students and staff alike. A proud graduate of Cortez High School, she earned her associate degree from Glendale Community College, her bachelor’s degree in Education from Arizona State University, and her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. Her academic journey, paired with continued coursework in English and photography, reflects a lifelong commitment to learning and growth that she brings into her classroom each day.
At Moon Valley, Fisher teaches English, English Language Learner (EL) courses, and Yearbook, creating opportunities for students to grow both academically and personally. She also serves as English Department Chair, where she supports collaboration, strengthens instruction, and helps guide initiatives such as the school’s ACT plan in English Language Arts. Beyond the classroom, her impact is felt through years of involvement in student life, including serving as Student Council Adviser, Photography Club sponsor, Prom sponsor, and Yearbook adviser. Through these roles, she has helped shape a school culture rooted in connection, pride, and meaningful student experiences.

Student Recipient: Kaylie Darelli

Kaylie Darelli, a senior at Moon Valley High School, has distinguished herself through a strong commitment to academics, leadership, and campus involvement. She has fully embraced the high school experience, challenging herself with a rigorous course load that includes Advanced Placement classes while maintaining straight A’s every semester. Her dedication to excellence is reflected in her consistent academic success, recognition, including honor roll and principal’s list, and achievements through programs such as Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).
Beyond the classroom, Kaylie has made a lasting impact through her leadership and involvement across campus. She currently serves as DECA President and is an active member of FBLA, National Honor Society, and Link Crew, where she helps guide and support incoming freshmen. Her commitment to the marketing program has led to notable accomplishments, including top placements at regional competitions and qualification for the national-level DECA competition. In addition, she has been a member of the volleyball program, demonstrating school pride, teamwork, and a willingness to stay engaged in all aspects of student life.
What sets Kaylie apart is her consistency, drive, and positive influence on those around her. Teachers describe her as intelligent, hardworking, and dependable, noting her ability to lead with both confidence and humility. Student Group Recipient: Moon Valley Bands

Moon Valley Bands, under the direction of Eric Zimmerman, bring together 93 dedicated students who share a commitment to excellence, teamwork, and performance. Led by student leaders Santiago Bello Hernandez (President), Aiden McClusky (Vice President), Laurel Haney (Secretary), and Alek McMillan (Treasurer), the program provides students with opportunities to develop both musically and personally. Through preparation for public performances, students build leadership skills, accountability, and a strong sense of collaboration that extends beyond the classroom.
Throughout the year, the Moon Valley Bands play an essential role in campus life and community engagement. From energizing Friday night football games and school assemblies to performing in marching band competitions, concert festivals, and events such as Jazz at the MIM, the group consistently represents Moon Valley with pride. Their dedication has led to continued success, including superior ratings at concert festivals and a first-place finish at the 2024 Phoenix Veterans Day Parade. These accomplishments reflect not only musical talent but also the discipline and countless hours of rehearsal required to perform at a high level.
What makes the Moon Valley Bands especially impactful is the sense of belonging and purpose they create for students. Members commit to early morning rehearsals, evening practices, and ongoing preparation, demonstrating perseverance and pride in their work. Beyond performance, the program helps students grow as leaders and teammates, encouraging them to support one another and contribute to something larger than themselves. Support Staff Recipient: Debby Crawford

Debby Crawford has served as the school psychologist at Moon Valley High School for the past 10 years, bringing expertise, compassion, and a student-centered approach to her work. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, followed by two master’s degrees in Special Education from Northern Arizona University. As a nationally certified school psychologist, Crawford combines her strong academic background with a deep commitment to supporting students, staff, and families.
In her role, Crawford plays a vital part in ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed both academically and emotionally. Her unique background in both education and psychology allows her to bridge the gap between student needs and classroom practice, providing thoughtful, practical guidance to teachers and staff. Known for her collaborative approach, she works closely with teams to navigate complex situations, build educators' capacity, and create solutions that prioritize student growth. Her willingness to step in wherever needed, including supporting hiring efforts and campus initiatives, reflects her dedication to the entire Moon Valley community.

She is known for her insight, professionalism, and ability to support others meaningfully, ensuring students feel seen, valued, and supported. Volunteer Recipient: Christine Carro

Christine Carro has made a meaningful impact on the Moon Valley High School community through her dedication, leadership, and unwavering support of students and staff. A proud Moon Valley alumna from the Class of 1993, she has spent the past three years actively involved in the school’s Booster program, currently serving as Treasurer. Her connection to Moon Valley is both personal and ongoing, as she supports her senior daughter while also preparing to welcome her youngest child to campus in the coming years, continuing her commitment to the Rocket community.
Through her work with Boosters, Carro plays a vital role in supporting student programs and campus initiatives. She helps coordinate and run home football games alongside student groups, manages fundraising through events such as the annual wrestling tournament, and has supported hosting championship games on campus. Her efforts extend beyond events; she also helps provide resources for students and staff, including organizing staff breakfasts, supporting student recognition, and assisting with funding requests to enhance the student experience. Her ability to bring people together and create opportunities for involvement has strengthened connections across campus.
Carro’s impact is rooted in her passion for service and her belief in supporting both students and educators. She values creating positive experiences where students can get involved, build teamwork skills, and feel connected to their school. Known for her energy, organization, and collaborative spirit, she consistently looks for ways to give back and uplift those around her.
