PASS AT APOLLO HIGH SCHOOL

PASS and Apollo High School Create Opportunities for Student Growth
At Apollo High School, student success extends beyond the classroom, and this summer, that success has been strengthened through a meaningful partnership with Programs for After School Success (PASS). PASS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing students through tennis, education, and leadership opportunities. PASS provides year-round programs, lessons, and tournament opportunities for students while creating spaces for growth beyond athletics.
The impact of PASS is evident among Apollo High School students and alumni. Several graduates from the Classes of 2025 and 2026 began as participants and grew into leaders within the program. Through PASS, students gain confidence in both tennis and leadership while receiving support in preparing for higher education through scholarship applications, FAFSA completion, and mentorship. One Apollo graduate, Alma Preciado, earned recognition as a QuestBridge Scholar and will attend Stanford University.
This summer, PASS continues serving students within the Glendale Union High School District, including participants from Apollo, Cortez, Glendale, Independence, and Moon Valley. Students engage in weekly tennis training, academic support, community service opportunities, leadership development, and job-readiness experiences. At Apollo, all 25 participating students received a free Winward Academy account, while nearly every student received new athletic shoes and upgraded tennis equipment. Former Apollo students Alma Preciado, Lily Vera, and Lisa Tran now return as coaches.
PASS expressed gratitude to the Glendale Union High School District for entrusting the organization with the operation of the tennis camp at Apollo High School and for supporting opportunities that directly impact students.
