GUHSD Kicks Off New School Year with Annual Back-to-School Celebration

Glendale Union High School District officially welcomed teachers, support staff, and district leaders to the annual Back-to-School Celebration, held at Apollo High School as employees prepared for the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

The event brought together employees from all high schools, the district office, special programs, and transportation to celebrate the beginning of another year dedicated to student success. Throughout the event, teachers and staff members were recognized for their commitment to students through district traditions.

Governing Board President Natalie Veidmark welcomed employees by reflecting on the many moving parts that make a successful school district. She reminded employees that while much of their work happens behind the scenes, its impact lasts for generations through the lives of the students they serve.

Superintendent Matt Belden concluded the celebration by encouraging every employee to recognize the lasting impact of the relationships they build with students each day. His message focused on preparing students for an ever-changing future through the district's mission, the Portrait of a Graduate, and the power of creating meaningful moments that inspire confidence, belonging, and lifelong success.

As nearly 15,000 students prepare to return to classrooms on Monday, August 10, the Back-to-School Celebration served as a reminder of the shared commitment across Glendale Union High School District to empower every student for college, career, and life through strong relationships, meaningful experiences, and a culture of excellence.
