May 2010 – Amanda McAdams received the Matt O. Hanhila Inspirational Educator Award at a recent rotary meeting. Amanda exceeds the expectations of her students and co-workers. She is an excellent educator that has made an ever lasting impact at Apollo High School.

Susan Maland, Apollo High School Principal had his to say about Mrs. McAdams:

“First and foremost, Mrs. McAdams is an extraordinary teacher. She teachers both Honors and regular sophomore English classes. Because of her leadership, the Apollo students score very well on AIMS reading and writing and the district assessments. I have observed her classes on many occasions, and the students are always engaged and learning. In addition to her phenomenal teaching, Mrs. McAdams is a strong leader on campus. She is the Language Arts Department Chair for Apollo, and because of her leadership, the English department teachers have been very successful with their results on assessments and in their Professional Learning Communities. Furthermore, Mrs. McAdams works with teachers individually if they are struggling. The first year teachers rely on her expertise to provide the best instruction for their students. “
