Four GUHSD Student Athletes Commit to Play at Division I Universities
November 2011- Thunderbird High School senior, Marcus Wheeler, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of Kansas.

Originally, Marcus wanted to play basketball, but the more he played baseball, the better he became. In fact, he became so good that he caught the eye of Kansas University scouts, who offered him a scholarship to play ball.

Although he keeps very busy as a two sport varsity athlete, Marcus also excels in the classroom. With a 3.3 grade point average, Marcus takes college algebra and is part of the school newspaper staff.

Marcus is not the only GUHSD student committing to play for a Division I school. Two Sunnyslope High School girls' volleyball players, Trianna Henry and Andri Lowrence, have also signed to play for DI schools, Trianna with Northern Arizona University and Andri with Seattle University. Gabrielle Sandstedt from Independence High School also recently committed to play softball for the University of Arizona.

Congratulations to all four of these talented student athletes!
