AHS Students Sweep Art Contest

AHS Students Win Pastor Congressional Art Contest
April 2013- Apollo High School student, Catarino Carrasco, won first place in the Pastor Congressional Art Contest. The contest is sponsored by Congressman Ed Pastor to encourage and recognize young artists. Carrasco will have his art displayed in the U.S. Capitol. He will also be flown to Washington D.C. in June to be recognized for his winning piece. Carrasco also secured at $10,000 scholarship to the Art Institute of Phoenix and will get to attend a summer workshop at the Art Institute. He also got a Harkins movie pass. This is the 14th time a student from Apollo has won this competition.

Antonio Nunez, also from Apollo, came in second in the contest and will get to attend the summer workshop at the Art Institute of Phoenix. He also received $200 and a Harkins movie pass. Apollo student, Kris Amador, got 3rd place in the competition. Amador will also attend the summer workshop at the Art Institute. He also got $100 and a Harkins movie pass. Apollo student, Gisma Daood got an Honorable Mention on her art piece. She will get to attend the Art Institute summer workshop and also received a Harkins movie pass.
