Glendale High School To Re-Name Sports Facilities

GUHSD Honors Two Significant People By Re-Naming GHS Sports Facilities
December 2012- The GUHSD Governing Board approved the re-naming of Glendale High School's Sports Facilities.

"Buzz" Sands, a graduate of Glendale High School and owner of Sands Chevrolet in Glendale, donated a new $49,000 score board to GHS. He also made arrangements to set-up at $500,000 endowment to Glendale High School to to ensure future support of GHS programs. Mr. Sands also plans to make an annual contribution of $25,000 to the school, which will be used for programs and equipment. To honor Mr. Sands for this significant contribution, Glendale High School will re-name the GHS Sports Complex to Sands Sport Complex.

The Governing Board also approved naming the GHS football field, Robert Crouch Football Field. Robert Crouch was a teacher, coach and administrator at Glendale High School from 1930-1970. Mr. Crouch coached varsity football, basketball and baseball. He taught history and physical education. He coached the GHS football team through an undefeated season, earning them a state championship in 1936. Many of his team members went on to be noted college athletes. He was inducted into the Arizona Football Hall of Fame in 1970. All of his children are GHS graduates.
