Her commitment has earned national recognition, including the prestigious National ProStart Educational Excellence Award and the 2019 Achievement Above All Student Group award for Apollo Hospitality.
What makes Clarke truly exceptional is the community she builds and the way she helps every student feel valued, supported, and capable of more than they imagined. She is a constant presence on campus, cheering at athletic events, attending performances, and showing up wherever students are striving. In her classroom, confidence grows, relationships matter, and students learn to see themselves as leaders, for she is an educator who “prepares students not just for a career, but for life”. Her work strengthens the heartbeat of Apollo High School, shaping a setting where students learn, grow, and feel supported in their goals.

Student Group Recipient: Unified Sports

The Unified Sports program, sponsored by Christie Watson and Rachele Podowski, has become a cornerstone of inclusivity, teamwork, and school pride. Bringing together students, the program provides opportunities to compete in badminton, bowling, basketball, soccer, and track and field, creating an environment where everyone is valued and supported.
With 40 dedicated members, Unified Sports goes far beyond athletics. The team cultivates friendships and promotes understanding, showing the Apollo community the true meaning of collaboration and respect. As Apollo's Principal shared, "they bring joy everywhere they go. They brighten our days, lift our spirits, and remind us what community is supposed to feel like."
The program emphasizes sportsmanship, demonstrating that success is measured not just by medals but by how students uplift one another. Through consistent practice, student leadership opportunities, and participation in competitions and school-wide events, Unified Sports strengthens connections across campus and encourages a culture where every student feels seen, included, and empowered. Their presence on campus is a testament to Apollo High School's spirit.

Even after her own children graduated from Apollo High School, Vanessa’s dedication never wavered. She continued to step up for the football program, supporting young athletes and their families with care and consistency. Her contributions are driven by service rather than recognition. Her efforts exemplify the idea that meaningful support often happens behind the scenes, shaping the experiences of students and staff alike.
Vanessa’s generosity and unwavering presence have left a lasting mark on Apollo’s community. By consistently showing up, lending a hand, and uplifting those around her, she has helped build a culture of encouragement, teamwork, and care.
