Apollo Receives Grant from Arizona Diamondbacks

Apollo Receives Grant from Arizona Diamondbacks
May 2012- Apollo High School was chosen as one of only twenty winning schools state-wide in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ “D-backs $100,000 School Challenge.” Winners of this contest were given a $5,000 grant toward a need on their campus and 2,000 Diamondbacks tickets for faculty and staff.

Apollo’s athletic trainer, Whitney Lee, applied for this grant in order to upgrade Apollo’s athletic training facility. The grant will go toward the purchase of an ultra sound machine and concussion software. Representatives recently visited Apollo’s campus to present Ms. Lee and AHS administration with a check and personally congratulate the school.

Ms. Lee was also honored at the May 7 Diamondbacks game, with Apollo students, teachers, administrators, parents, and community members in attendance showing their support.

The “D-backs $100,000 School Challenge” is collaboration between the University of Phoenix and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation, which was created to help schools be the best they can be.

Congratulations, Apollo and Ms. Lee, on being chosen for this honor!
