Silver Apple Awarded to Washington Physics Teacher

Silver Apple Awarded to Washington Physics Teacher
October 2011- Channel 3's Patti Kirkpatrick and a camera crew visited Washington High School recently to present physics teacher Brett Irwin with the Silver Apple Award.

This honor is given to only eight teachers, from kindergarten through 12th grade, throughout the school year. Students submit nominations for their favorite teachers, and then a panel of judges from the program's sponsor, Novocur, chooses eight recipients based on the students' essays. Mr. Irwin was chosen because of an essay submitted by Shoshana Bell, a sophomore in his AP Physics class.

With his father, mother, and wife all there supporting him, Brett Irwin was given the Silver Apple and a $500 check for going above and beyond in the classroom.

Congratulations, Mr. Irwin!
