National Merit Semifinalists Recognized by Governing Board

Update, March 2015 – Both Breslin Sibley-Martin from Sunnyslope High School and Ronek Padgaonkar from Thunderbird High School have been selected to be National Merit Finalists. This means both students are being considered for the final 7,600 Merit Scholarship winners. To be considered to be a finalist, both Breslin and Ronek had to maintain their high academic performance, complete an application which included an essay, and be fully endorsed by their respective principals.

- GUHSD has two seniors who have been recognized as National Merit Semifinalists for 2014-15. Breslin Sibley-Martin from Sunnyslope High School and Ronek Padgaonkar from Thunderbird High School were both honored by the GUHSD Governing Board for their exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. In addition, these two students are placed in the top among 1.4 million juniors in 22,000 high schools who entered the 2015 National Merit program by taking the PSAT their junior year.

Both students will continue in the competition for one of the 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth $33 million. National Merit Semifinalists represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
