Moon Valley Engineering Students Victorious at SkillsUSA Conference

Moon Valley Engineering Students Victorious at SkillsUSA Conference
February 2012- At the annual SkillsUSA Arizona Region 5 Conference, Moon Valley engineering students took first and second place awards in the mobile robotics category. Twelve students from Moon Valley competed in the areas of mobile robotics and architectural drafting, but Austin Martin and Jessie Welch took first place, and X-Avier Corrales and Coby Strub took second place.

Although the conference is not a qualifier for the SkillsUSA Arizona Championships, students are encouraged to compete at regional conferences to learn more about their trade and gain experience in a lower pressure setting. SkillsUSA is a national organization which partners with schools to help students build upon their skills in the trade of their choice, with the hope that this will create a more skilled American work force.

The other Moon Valley students who participated were Crystal Ottoway, Anthony Encinas, Jose Corral, and Quinten Hackett in the area of mobile robotics and Nicholas Kontz, David Rogers, Kyli Agoodie, and Lupe Higuera in architectural drafting. The students' next competition is the state championship in late March.

Congratulations to all of the students who competed.
