Utility Reduction Recommendations

Utility Reduction Recommendations
Last year our energy reduction task force met and committed itself to reducing our districts energy consumption. After weeks of meetings, research and study, the committee established its recommendations and presented them to the Governing Board. The results of the committee's work can be found by visiting the district web sight and clicking on Departments, Operational Services and going to Facilities and Bond.

Toward the end of last year we were still working some bugs out of our system. To remind us all, we changed the set points the last week of school to 76 degrees, plus or minus 2 degrees. When you arrive at your classrooms and other work areas please help us get everything adjusted properly again. It is important that we keep doors and windows closed and that unnecessary equipment is not to be left on. Please call maintenance if you are having any problems. They will do their best to respond quickly.

This year our district lost $3.9 million in funding for excess utilities. Funds that need to go to our classrooms but are right now being committed to pay our energy bill. Our utility reduction plan will save us money which is essential to the operations of the district. It takes all of us pulling together to get it done. I look forward to working with you again this year on this challenge.
